talked about the band’s song Fight the Good Fight on her Substack and it reminded me it’s time for me to do a song from this band I love.
The album this is from, The Sport of Kings, is dismissed by a lot of hard core Triumph fans because its in a more AOR vein but if it hasn’t been established by now, I love AOR. It still features the driving edge the band is known for but the melodic hooks are brought forward and became their biggest selling album.
This track wasn’t released as a single but it’s pure guitar rock featuring Rik Emmett’s soaring vocals1 . The lyrics also appealed to a teenage me, talking about desire. I get such a rush singing to this song so enjoy your song of the day!

I don’t always make his high notes and I’m so envious.
I'm a fake Triumph fan, as I don't know this song or album. I will give it a listen, but often, these songs work best when you are young and are hearing them when they came out. I'll attempt to channel that 14-year-old awkward pimply-faced teenager, then take a hit off a joint of some really bad weed, put my headphones on and play this album.
