Not familiar with this song but it’s lovely. When I read the lyric “There’s a hole in my soul” I immediately wondered whether he was in recovery as that’s an expression used fairly regularly in 12-step recovery meetings, the idea being that we had a hole in our souls that we tried to fill with alcohol and drugs. A quick google search confirmed that he’s spoken openly about his sobriety and recovery journey.
I thought this was a Take That song when I first heard it.
I've often thought that if Robbie had been American he would have become both a TV/movie and pop star, given his looks, voice, and personality. The guy has star written all over him.

He had done a rehab stint by that point, although not the one that led him to sobritiy, so your guess is probably dead on. I believe so too. So did EMI, which is why they signed him and he moved to LA. Hoping the recent films about him maybe give him that yet.
Interesting song and video. I don’t get over to that side of the musical street much. It’s always nice to get a change of pace.
