What is so weird about doing this post is finding out that as far as the internet is concerned, the 2003 album Want That Life doesn’t exist. It’s not on Spotify, it’s not on the Fixx VEVO, there’s only a bootleg version up on YouTube. When you go to the band site, the only link to buy takes you to an Amazon page that has one used copy for $75. Why has this album disappeared?
So bootleg it is.
I think about this song a lot, probably because finding a physical home has been such a challenge this year.
I feel like taking the long way home tonight
Maybe I'll turn left or then again, right
Keeping my eyes on that distant harbor light
The seas may be rough but the stars shine bright
The music is simple - well simple for this band. But its simplicity brings Cy Curnin’s plaintive vocals to the forefront, highlighting the beautiful lyrics.
Enjoy your song of the day!
I really don’t know much at all about The Fixx. They had a song I really loved back in the 80s, “Secret Separation”, but that might be their only song I’ve ever heard. Any suggestions on where to start with their catalog?
Well, i’m going to have to hand in my Fixx fan club ribbon as I was unaware of this album as well. Have you found out why it’s not available in so many areas? It seems like something that would make a good podcast episode or depending on the dramatics, an entire series.
