Kenny Loggins' sublime hit
This was the 7th post for SOTD. Substack tells me it got 3 views. After the Danger Zone talk last week this seems to be a good time to revist. Plus it’s late and I need to be up early for a long day tomorrow. Enjoy!
My gateway into Kenny Loggins is today’s song of the day. I remember playing it over and over, wearing out my cassette because the song spoke so strongly to me. The power of the pre-chorus:
For once in your life, here’s your miracle. Stand up and fight!
I got a call this morning for an interview for a job I really want, so this line is resonating. I want my miracle! (Update - it’s the job I currently have. All hail the power of music!)
Turns out Kenny Loggins wrote it (with Michael McDonald) after having a fight with his dad, who was struggling with a health issue and seemed like he was ready to check out. It explains why there is such force in the vocal on these lines. That force was what drew me to the song and still does, all these years later. Enjoy!

Great song! Loggins won a Grammy for the live version!
