Promises Promises

Heard this while I was shopping (yup, of an age that the grocery stores are pandering to by playing the music of our youth) and realized that the song is 40 years old. Which makes me feel old!

Anyway, Naked Eyes was a two-person new wave band who did two albums before going their separate ways. They were creatures of the studio and never toured because they couldn’t replicate the sound. One of the members died in 1999. In 2005 the other member put a band together and has been touring and recording since.

A strong guitar up front and a driving bassline is what makes the song so catchy, and I love the plaintive vocal on the chorus. Enjoy your song of the day!
