Woke up with this song in my head. Pretty apropos as getting up is hard when your body is as tired as mine. However, this song is talking about waking up in the wider sense. The protagonist is telling a young girl to look past all the damaging messages society is giving her and see her own, unchanging inner beauty.
This song closes off the supergroup’s second album, Alpha. (There’s also a secret track, but that’s a song for another day.) The band took members from both Emerson, Lake and Palmer and from Yes - John Wetton, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, and Geoff Downes. Their first album, just titled Asia, was huge and this one was rated disappointing in comparison, although it did quite well.
This song was never a single so no fancy video today. Enjoy your song of the day!
