I talked about Alex Lloyd’s first album Black The Sun back in November. Luckily, his second effort Watching Angels Mend is just as strong.
Released in 2002, this is my favourite song off of that album. It was released as the third single. When it was released, it really resonated with what was going on in my life at the time. I had met this really amazing guy and had this moment:
You know it's the truth when you find that you can't talk
Like out of a romance novel - eyes meet, words fall away. And it messed me up for years because it had meant nothing to him.
If you want to be free please don't fall for me
I could be anyone but your friend
If you open the door I'll give a whole lot more
I could be anyone but your friend
Pretty much sums up how I felt then.
For some reason his Vevo isn’t available in Canada, but thankfully someone thought to make the video available to the rest of us. I can’t make sense of it so I’d love your thoughts.
Listening to it takes me back to travelling through Australia. I was listening to it on a loop as I wrote this and the 4th time around to my surprise, I started crying. It seems I still carry some of those feelings. Hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.
