Barbie gets down with Dua Lipa
I’d heard of Dua Lipa and I liked her duet with Elton John but hadn’t really gotten deep into her music. This song, written for the Barbie movie, has this great disco-throwback feel that I adore. Mark Ronson created a basic bed track that was used during filming while he collaborated with Lipa to create the full song. Lipa’s collaborators Caroline Ailin and the Picard Brothers also contributed to the track. It was then released in advance of the film.
The video is directed by Greta Gerwig as well and does include some clips of how it’s used in the film but the conceit is that we’re watching the creation of the music video during the video. (We’ve seen this before with Easy Lover.)
This video really gets into the nitty-gritty on how Lipa and Ronson created the song and it’s completely worth the 12 1/2 minutes.
The song is up for a couple of Grammys. Enjoy your song of the day!

Hurumph... young people these days. Ha!
